November 13: Gospel Questions and NACHOS

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that we will have NO Sunday school lesson this week, there is a special stake church meeting that starts at 10:00am.

If you like NACHOS do I have a deal for you.  You help me with the below lesson prep, I'll bring everything for loaded nachos next lesson....read on my friends.

For the following week, November 13, I thought we could talk about gospel questions and how we can find the answers to our own gospel questions.  Part of being spiritually self-reliant (or being able to look after ourselves and our own spirituality) is learning how to answer our own gospel questions.

Please take a minute to choose at least ONE bullet point to review and prepare to present before our lesson and then comment below or text me at 403-992-5477 and let me know which bullet point you select. We need to make sure there is someone covering each of them.  First come first serve!  I literally don't even care if you review it in Sacrament meeting, just pick one ahead of time.

  • Take (literally) five minutes and read THIS scripture passage.
  • Review THIS talk by Jeffery R. Holland.  We will be talking about his observances during class.
  • Think about or make a list of questions people often ask about life or religion (HINT - you can click HERE for some examples)

The deal is, you do the prep work, I'll bring the nachos for our lesson (we will probably have to have our lesson in the kitchen.....)  Please comment below that you've seen this so I can make sure it's getting to everyone and I'll be looking forward to seeing you soon!

November Lessons

Hey guys!

The theme for our November lessons is:  Spiritual and Temporal Self-Reliance which basically means being able to look after your own spiritual and physical needs without having to rely on anybody else in order to succeed. The goal is for each of us to find answers to our own questions and to develop our own testimonies to help us overcome the challenges we face every single day.  We are all old enough now that we can't rely on the testimonies of our parents or friends any longer. As we become more independent in life and the gospel we will be better prepared to teach and serve others!
Thus church has given us seven outlines to choose from as we have our lessons this month, we can decide together what we want to focus on.  I've listed them here.

How can I become spiritually self-reliant?
How can I find answers to my own gospel questions?
How can I overcome doubt with faith?
How can I learn to make my own decisions?
How can setting goals help me become self-reliant?
How can I prepare to be financially self-reliant?
How can I stand as a witness of God?

Looking forward to spending this month with you!
